Pakistani first cooking reality game show ‘MasterChef Pakistan’ has been nominated for the prestigious 19th Asian Television Awards (ATA) and has become the first Pakistani reality show nominated for an International award.
The show has been nominated in the 'Best Adaptation of an Existing Format' category. Other nominees in the category include ‘Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 2’ (Hong Kong), ‘Junior MasterChef’ (India), ‘The Voice’ (Philippines), ‘The Apprentice Asia’, ‘The Brain’ (China) and ‘Makeover Mission’ (India).
The ATAs is the most prestigious Asian award show that seeks to recognize quality television production within the region. According to the official ATA website, 239 nominees across 38 categories, sprawling over 13 countries have been announced and ‘MasterChef Pakistan’ is one of them.
Vice President of Programming and Production at Paragon Productions Ahmer Khan said, “To be honest, when we sent over ‘MasterChef Pakistan’ for submission at the ATAs, we weren’t expecting to be nominated but the production quality of the show was highly appreciated. The Shine Group (the international producer of the show) really admired the fact that this is a production that is coming out of Pakistan. We had localized the show as much as we can, which makes it stand out from the other MasterChef adaptations. The entire team is thrilled about MasterChef Pakistan’s nomination”, media reported.
'MasterChef Pakistan' is a cooking reality television game show based on the original British MasterChef. The show has been produced by Shine Group. Chef Zakir Qureshi, Chef Khurram Awan and Chef Mehboob Khan were the celebrity judges of the show. Mrs. Ammara Nauman has emerged as a first winner of ‘MasterChef Pakistan’.
The winners will be announced at the Awards gala ceremony in Singapore on December 11, 2014.
