Singer turned preacher Junaid Jamshed has been booked on Tuesday for alleged blasphemous remarks about the wife of Holy Prophet Muhammed (PBUH).
An FIR has been filed against Junaid Jamshed in a Karachi police station on charges of blasphemy. According to details, the District South Courts in Karachi ordered the Risala Police Station to register an FIR on the complaint of Pakistan Sunni Tehreek (PST) Rabita Committee member Mubeen Qadri.
The complainant Muhammad Mobeen Qadri son of Iqbal Hussain Qadri, who lived in Korangi recorded his statement at the Risala Police Station in District South that Junaid Jamshed had used derogatory remarks against the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Prophet’s spouses especially Syeda Ayesha Siddiqua (R.A), which was a deliberate act of committing blasphemy and hence the accused should be arrested on charges of committing blasphemy, tried and taken to task, local media reported.
However, immediately after the sudden outburst by the Islamic Ulema and general public, Junaid Jamshed issued a public apology in a video and said, “I have committed a mistake out of ignorance. Anyone who disrespects the companions or Umhat-ul-Momineen is banished from the faith and I tender an apology to the entire Ummah for hurting their sentiments,” Jamshed, who was seemingly in tears said in his video message.
SSP-City Sheeraz Nazeer said Mr. Jamshed hasn’t been arrested yet as the matter will be investigated by the senior officers before any serious action.
