The US TV channel Syfy is developing ‘Krypton’ series, a one-hour drama about Superman’s grandfather set at the fictional planet.
According to foreign media reports, this drama, which will have David S Goyer and Ian Goldberg as its executive producers, will focus on Superman's grandfather, the father of Jor-El, and is set quite awhile before the planet explodes.
The show is reportedly described as follows, “Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows ‘The Man of Steel’ grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known. The planet was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and first featured in a 1938 DC comic”.
Ian Goldberg will write the script for the one-hour drama series ‘Krypton’, whose story was conceived by both Goyer and Goldberg. Goyer’s credits include ‘Demons’, NBC’s ‘Constantine’ and the upcoming ‘Man of Steel’ sequel ‘Batman vs. Superman’.
Warner Horizon Television and DC Comics are working together on the project.
