imageISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain Monday said that Pakistan is keen to enhance relations with Sudan particularly in trade, economic and defence sectors.

Talking to the Ambassador of Sudan in Pakistan, Alshafie Ahmed Mohamed who paid a farewell call on him here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the President said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Sudan and wishes to consolidate it further.

Both countries should continue exploring mutual avenues to further increase the volume of trade. The existing bilateral trade volume of US$ 46.47 million was far below the potential, President noted.

He hoped that the proposed third round of Pak-Sudan Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) to be held early next year, would further enhance bilateral economic cooperation.

The President noted with appreciation that both the countries had extended support to each other at various regional and international fora. He expressed commitment for furthering bilateral collaboration in diverse fields to the mutual benefits of the people of both the countries.

He also conveyed his good wishes to the President Omar al- Bashir and the Sudanese leadership.

President Mamnoon Hussain conveyed his thanks to the President of Sudan for extending invitation to visit Sudan and expressed hope to visit Sudan at the earliest possible convenience.

The President appreciated the ambassadorial services of Alshafie Ahmed Mohamed in bringing Pakistan and Sudan further closer.

He wished the outgoing envoy goodluck and success in his future life and assignments.

Alshafie Ahmed Mohamed thanked the President and the Government of Pakistan for the support extended during his stay as ambassador in Pakistan.
