QUETTA: At least 27 people sustained injuries in a bicycle bomb blast on Prince road in the provincial capital, here on Wednesday night.
A spokesman for Police said that unknown armed men planted explosives in a bicycle and parked it infront of a shop on Prince road which exploded, leaving 27 people injured. "Twenty-seven persons including shopkeepers, passersby and children received injuries in the bicycle bomb explosion," he said.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Quetta, Abdul Razzaque Cheema said that three of the injured were in critical condition.
The rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the injured to Civil hospital. Later, some of the injured were taken to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) due to their serious condition.
The blast caused fire which engulfed nearby shops, however, fire tenders rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire,polic said.
They added that windowpanes of shops and nearby buildings were smashed in the blast which rocked the entire area. The law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the entire area to trace out the suspects. Further probe was underway.
