RECORDER REPORT KARACHI: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the Council of Common Interests, in its meeting to be held on Monday, will take decision regarding allocations, disbursement and distribution of relief packages to the flood affected people in all provinces. Talking to media at Sindh Chief Minister House here on Sunday, he said that the CCI would also decide whether disbursement and distribution of allocated money to flood affected people would be given before or on Eid day. Earlier, a special meeting of Sindh cabinet was held at Chief Minister House, which was jointly presided over by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani. At this meeting, a detailed briefing was given on the devastation caused by the unprecedented floods in Sindh. The Prime Minister said that the chief ministers of all four provinces would also attend the CCI meeting, and all issues related to flood destruction, relief activities and others would be discussed. The meeting would take various decisions in this regard, he added. He said that the meeting would help in improving co-ordination among all concerns federal and provincial departments engaged in flood relief activities. He said that officials of National Disaster Management Authority would also be present at the CCI meeting. He said that the loss of life in Sindh was low as the provincial government was prepared to handle the flood. However, he said, the unwillingness of people to leave their homes had created some problems in some areas. He appreciated the role of Pakistan Army, Navy, Air Force and other government departments in the rescue and relief work in the flood affected areas. The PM said that he had handed over Railways Hospital to Sindh Health Department. The 200-bed hospital donated by Saudi Government has also been established in Thatta to provide more health facilities to the flood affected people of Sindh, he added. He said that the date of holding an all-party conference would be announced after consultation with all political parties. He said that the government is committed to help the flood affected people. The government would use all its resources for rehabilitation of the flood affectees, he added. Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Interior Minister Rehman Malik were also present on this occasion.
