LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa has said that promotion of commercial activities was of supreme importance for economic stability in the country and the government had adopted a comprehensive economic policy.
Addressing traders from Gujranwala division at the Governor's House on Thursday, he said that traders were playing a vital role in the development and progress of the country, adding that the government attached top priority to facilitate them and resolve their problems.
He said the PPP manifesto focuses on the empowerment of the masses and PPP founder Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto have laid their lives only for the rights of the public.
"The PPP is the only political party that leadership has set a golden example of service and sacrifice by laying down their lives for the cause of democracy in the country," he observed.
Khosa said the PPP believed in complete adherence to the constitution and law and intended to run the affairs of the country as per the constitution.
"The PPP has introduced a new culture of politics of reconciliation and desires consensus among all political stakeholders over major national issues", he said.
The governor said that continuation of democracy was the only solution to all the ills faced by the country, adding that President Asif Ali Zardari had steered the country out of crises through wise policies and even his adversaries acknowledged his political insight.
The Punjab governor said that resolving problems faced by people of Punjab was his first priority, adding that doors of the Governor's House were always open to the masses as well as traders", he added.
The traders of Gujranwala apprised the governor of the problems faced by the business community and demanded their early redress.
