Nokia launches Ramazan mobile Apps

KARACHI: Nokia has announced the launch of a new range of mobile applications for the holy month of Ramazan. The applications have been specifically developed and designed for the month of Ramadan and include features that provide an opportunity to the customers to utilize their free time by gaining religious knowledge.
The new range of Ramazan applications are now available on Ovi Store and can be downloaded on compatible Nokia devices for free. The platform is Java+ QT based which makes it more user-friendly and the Apps are well-matched with smart phones Qwerty and Touch Phone interface as well.
Haseeb Ihtisham, Regional Head Marketing, when asked about the Nokia Apps said that Ovi hosts 5 million downloads per day and with the new applications especially designed for the Pakistani audiences they seek to tap the Pakistani market.
A key application includes uQuran Micro reciter. Other Apps include Al-Quran (lectures by Dr. Israrul Haq by Quran Academy), Qibla Touch, Namaz.me, Weekly Quran and Hadith, Lesson of the Day, Boyoot Allah and Manasik.
uQuran mobile App offers the full Quran in Uthmani Font with an easy to use user interface. It also offers verse by verse translation and recitation along with bookmarks. uQuran also has 100 percent touch screen support and is the only software of its kind offering full portrait and landscape viewing of the Quran for easy reading and understanding via a mobile phone.
Adeel Hashmi, Communication Manager, added that the new range of Ramazan applications is an investment from Nokia to add value to customers to make their experience of using Nokia phones more pleasurable.
He also mentioned that they are currently focusing on the development of their dual sim range while their Windows phones will be launched at the end of this year.
Ramazan applications will not only be available to Pakistani consumers but Muslims across the globe as well.
