imageISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Defense, Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif Saturday said that lack of economic activity breeds extremism and provides easy and dispensable foot soldiers to the perpetrators of terrorist acts.

He was addressing the participants of Economy Talks, "Prosperous Pakistan - Strategies 2030" organized by the G.A.T.E- Pakistan, a German Economic Forum on the sidelines of 51st Munich Security Conference in Munich, said a press release received here.

The minister said that the last couple of decades had seen instability in one part of the world that also inevitably affected the other parts as it was the nature of our new globalized world.

Khawaja Asif said that the present Government of Pakistan had a clear vision and settled priorities to uplift the sagging economy of the country.

He said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has made it abundantly clear that we would work towards a peaceful neighborhood.

He said it was essential for creating better economic opportunities for the people of Pakistan and others.

Khawaja Asif said that despite security challenges, the government did not lose sight of its economic objectives and the macroeconomics framework has seen obvious improvements.

He invited the German investors to see Pakistan in the light of the facts that Pakistan was the sixth largest country, with fourth largest labour force with the youngest population in the world with 54 percent under 19 year of age. Pakistan should not be seen through the prism of Afghanistan crises and the propaganda being spread by the enemies who did not want to see a progressive and prosperous Pakistan.

Pakistan's Ambassador to Germany, Syed Hasan Javed informed about various facts about Pakistan's landscape, its culture and the economy.

Earlier, President of the German Economic Forum, G.A.T.E- Pakistan, Dr. Pantelis Christian Poetis made a presentation on natural resources of Pakistan and the investment opportunities available in different sectors.

He said the German Economic Forum was all set to set up economic zone exclusively dedicated to German Manufactures and Business Houses in Pakistan.

The executive heads of various large and medium scale companies engaged in manufacturing and service sectors attended the event.
