Pakistan’s veteran artist Javed Sheikh has been finalized to work in an Indian film ‘Tamasha’ starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. Pakistani actor will play the role of Ranbir’s father in the movie.
According to local media reports, Javed Sheikh confirmed the news saying, “I’ve completed my first segment in Shimla. The rest of the cast is currently shooting in Delhi and I will be returning to Shimla again next month to complete shooting my scenes”.
The film revolves around Ranbir Kapoor playing the role of a good-for-nothing son, whom Javed Sheikh’s character takes great pains to raise and put right. The film will see Ranbir in three stages of his life, as a nine-year-old child, a 19-year-old adolescent and a 30-year-old foreign-returned adult.
When asked whether the strained Pak-India relationship has any impact on his work across the border, Javed Sheikh said, “The Filmfares just awarded Fawad Khan the Best Debut Award, a category in which he was contesting against Jackie Shroff’s son, among others. If they were biased against us, they would have never given him the award. I have just returned from Mumbai, and know that many producers are looking to shoot their films in Pakistan and are eager to cast our actors. The Bollywood industry looks at what it needs, not at the ups and downs of the Pak-India relationship,” media reported.
The romantic-comedy movie is being directed by Imtiaz Ali and set to release in early 2016.
