imageISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday referred the 18th and 21st Amendments case to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) and proposed CJP to form a larger bench.

The three-member bench headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Mushir Alam resumed hearing of the case.

Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali remarked that there were two different matters regarding 18th and 21st Amendments and the court would hear both matters separately. He also asked Attorney General and Advocates Generals about replies of the federation and provincial governments on the 21st Amendment.

Hamid Khan Counsel for Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) told that federation and Punjab have submitted replies on Monday while KPK has already submitted its reply.

On court query about Sindh government's reply, Mir Qasim Advocate General Sindh informed the bench that reply was submitted in the Supreme Court Karachi Registry. On this, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali asked that what is the point of submitting response at Karachi registry if the case is being heard in Islamabad.

Justice Jamali also asked about reply of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration.

Mian Abdul Rauf Advocate General for Islamabad told the bench that notice was issued to ICT but the reply was not sought from the Administration.

Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali directed ICT administration to submit reply in three days.

The hearing of the case was adjourned for indefinite period.
