ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Tuesday said that youth are the asset of the country as they hold the potential to shape their future and that of their country.
Ayaz Sadiq said this in his message on International Youth Day, to be observed on August 12 under the auspices of United Nations, a press release said issued.
He said that young people posses the vigor to actively participate in governance, democratic and socio-economic development.
The Speaker said that it is essential to empower young people and provide them with ample opportunities in order to engage them in political, social and economic affairs of the society as future of a nation lies within the hands of youth.
Describing government's steps in youth engagement, the Speaker said that it is taking measures to enhance youth participation in civic life by empowering them to contribute in the development of society in order to achieve sustainable human development goals.
He said the government is committed to provide an integrated and coordinated framework to the young men and women with an understanding to recognize their challenges.
"In addition to PM's Laptop Scheme, many youth oriented projects have been initiated by the government including PM Internship Program and PM Youth Business Loan Scheme", he said.
"I urge the young people to actively contribute in the development and progress of the country to address the challenges presently Pakistan is confronting", he added.
