LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed all departments concerned to utilize all their resources for controlling dengue virus and warned, no negligence or excuse will be entertained towards this end.
He also ordered to divide Lahore into nine sectors and assigned duties to ministers and elected representatives to personally supervise the campaign against dengue virus as well as visit hospitals to monitor treatment facilities being extended to dengue patients.
The chief minister was presiding over a meeting to review arrangements for controlling dengue virus, here on Tuesday.
Addressing the meeting, the CM directed the Health Department, Local Government and district administration to gear up their efforts against dengue virus while the process of fumigation should be accelerated.
Besides towns, he said, spray should also be conducted in such houses where dengue cases have been detected. "Control of dengue virus is the collective responsibility of all departments and no effort should be spared for protecting the people against the virus," he added.
He directed Education Minister to assign duties to elected representatives in various sectors and also keep him informed about their visits.
He directed Secretary Health to visit Gujranwala and Faisalabad in person to review arrangements against dengue virus. He said that Secretary Local Government should also pay visits to various districts to monitor the arrangements made at the local level for elimination of dengue virus.
Earlier, Secretary Health Jehanzeb Khan informed about the measures taken for controlling dengue virus. He said, Health Department has been fully mobilized for this purpose and arrangements have been made for the treatment of dengue patients in all hospitals.
