Martyrdom Day of Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A.), second Caliph of Islam, has been observed across the country on Thursday with religious sanctity.
Sindh government has announced a public holiday on first of Muharram to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A.). Muslims across the world observe Yaum-e-Shahadat (the day of martyrdom) of Hazart Umar Farooq on 1st Muharram.
Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A.) was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H).He succeeded the first caliph of Islam Hazrat Abu Bakr (R.A).
Seminars and conferences are being held on the day to highlight events from the life of Hazrat Umar Farooq (R.A.).
This is the first time ever that Sindh government has announced a public holiday on Youm-e-Shahadat of second caliph of Islam.
