SC to hear suo moto case on city situation on Monday

supreme-court-of-pakistanKARACHI: Strict security measures at Supreme Court Karachi Registry have been planned for hearing of suo moto case regarding law and order situation in Karachi on Monday.

The five members bench of the apex court comprises of Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani, Justice Amer Hani Muslim and Justice Ghulam Rabbani.

As far as security concerns, special passes will be issued by the Supreme Court, Karachi registry to the petitioners, respondents, their counsels appearing before the court.

As regards others, passes will be issued to all those who are interested to watch court proceedings but subject to seating capacity in the Courtroom.

Entry into Court building will be allowed after checking/frisking and searching of bags/ purses etc.

No mobile phone will be allowed inside the Courtroom. Special arrangements have been put in place to ensure foolproof security at the premises of the Court.

Meanwhile the Chief Justice has also formed two benches for hearing of the cases at Karachi Registry on August 29 and 30.

The first bench will be headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while the second bench will be headed by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali.

The families of the victims of target killings have also been asked to volunteer their appearance before the apex court and may also submit any evidence, if available, before the court.
