ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Wednesday said Pakistan is a feasible destination for investment having great potential in hydro power producing sector.
He was talking to a delegation of Korean Hydro and Nuclear Power Company (KHNP) that called on the Minister, led by Dr Song Jong Hwan, Ambassador of South Korea.
The delegation informed, the KHNP was the Government of Korean Public entity having rich experience in construction of hydro and nuclear power projects. The members of the delegation showed keen interest to invest in hydropower projects in Pakistan.
The minister lauded the role of Korean Government in the infrastructure development in Pakistan particularly in energy sector, said a press release.
"With the help of Korean brethren we are constructing 102MW Gulpur hydropower, the ground breaking-ceremony was conducted by the Prime Minister recently," he said.
He said Pakistan has a lot of hydropower potential, adding that we have more than 30,000 MW hydropower capacity which needs to be harnessed. The Minister assured maximum support to the Korean Companies and also issued direction to Managing Director Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) for their facilitation. Hassan Nasir Jammy, Additional Secretary Ministry of Water and Power was also present on the occasion.
