LAHORE: Minister for Pakistan Railways (PR) Khawaja Saad Rafique said on Sunday the PML-N had sacrificed in politics for people and that's why it had deep roots among the masses.
Addressing a seminar on "Role of Media in implementation of Urdu" here at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, he said the PML-N had to face various trials in its political history but it had never compromised on principles and on the interest of country.
"Politics is important but country and the nation come first", he added.
Minister said that PML-N had always represented the aspirations of the masses, and this the reason that people supported the PML-N.
Saad said that voters were very mature today, therefore, no candidate could succeed in elections without the choice of people.
He said the PML-N did not believe in political stunt, adding that political actors should reform themselves.
He further said the government would take all measures to implement Urdu as official language in the country, adding that only court orders and executive orders could not be implemented language in a country as people's consent was vital.
The minister said that a timeframe may be adopted to ensure the implementation of the Urdu language as per the constitution of the country.
The importance of regional languages cannot be ignored and country could not afford any linguistic divide, he added.
