ISLAMABAD: Dr Nazir Ahmed Sangi, Vice Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) said on Friday that Governor Punjab Sardar Abdul Latif Khosa has provided sixty acres of land for the construction of AIOU's Information Technology Institute at Dera Ghazi Khan.
He said this during a function arranged by Officer Welfare Association in connection with recognition of services of the teachers, officers and employees of Regional Campus DG Khan said a press release.
He informed that Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani will likely to lay the foundation stone for the construction of the IT Institute very soon.
Dr. Sangi said the provision of quality education across the country, especially to South Punjab, Balochistan, Northern areas, Azad Kashmir and backward areas of other provinces is their top priority.
"As we are passenger of the boat of Open University like a family, we are lucky that sitting government is taking care of AIOU which was established by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto," he maintained.
On the Occasion, President Officer Welfare Association, Qasim Haider appreciated all those who contributed in successful inauguration of Regional Campus DG Khan.
He also expressed the confidence that the University administration would resolve all the problems and departmental promotion cases on priority basis.
