imageABU DHABI: Jordan's Ministry of Trade and Industry bought 100,000 tonnes of optional origin wheat in a tender on Tuesday, a government source said.

The wheat was bought at $235 a tonne cost and freight for shipment during the second half of February and the first half of March from Dolge.

It comes after two tenders for the same amount of wheat and the same shipment period were cancelled in past weeks due to the lack of offers.

Jordan's tougher grain tender terms have translated into a struggle for the Middle Eastern buyer to import wheat as international suppliers shy away on higher risks and costs.

After Tuesday's purchase, Jordan is seeking 100,000 tonnes of wheat in a new tender with a deadline of Dec. 8 for shipment during April.
