FAISALABAD: A modern Torsam Squash Academy will be established at Al-Fateh Sports Complex here to promote squash at grass root level.
Legend squash player, ex-president of World Squash Federation and World Champion Jahangir Khan laid the foundation stone of the academy on Saturday and lauded efforts of the government made for the promotion of squash.
He said Torsam Squash Academy being established in the name of his brother will provide playing field to squash lovers in Faisalabad besides producing world level squash players from this region.
Talking to APP, Jahangir Khan appealed the government to allocate maximum funds for the establishment of sports academies so that sports could be promoted at grass root level by hunting maximum talent.
Earlier, Jahangir Khan also graced the opening ceremony of Third Loyal Pur National Men Squash Championship as chief guest at Chenab Club Faisalabad.
DCO Noorul Amin Mengal and District Sports Officer Tariq Nazir also accompanied Jahangir Khan at the opening and inauguration ceremonies.
