CJP orders appointment of judges in ATCs within two days
KARACHI: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has ordered the Government of Sindh to appoint judges for Anti Terrorism Courts within two days.
The Chief Justice passed this order during the hearing of suo motu case on law and order situation in Karachi here on Tuesday as the CJ noted the shortage of judges in Sindh province.
A five-member bench of the apex court comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani, Justice Amer Hani Muslim and Justice Ghulam Rabbani was hearing the case.
Responding to the order, the Advocate General Sindh said that the judges will be appointed in three days upon which the CJ directed him to complete the task in two days.
