LAHORE: British High Commissioner Philip Barton met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday.
Matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral relations and cooperation in different sectors besides successful visit of Shehbaz Sharif to Britain was discussed in the meeting.
The British High Commissioner congratulated Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the success of his visit to Britain.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that there were deep-rooted friendly relations and economic ties between Pakistan and Britain.
"Britain is a big trade partner of Pakistan and economic cooperation between the two countries is enhancing", he added.
He said that increasing cooperation of Britain in education, health, skill development, security and other sectors was highly appreciable.
The Chief Minister said that his recent visit to Britain was the most successful tour of his political career and useful meetings were held with British ministers and senior authorities for the promotion of cooperation in education, health, security, infrastructure and other sectors.
Shehbaz Sharif said that his delegation was given an extraordinary welcome during the visit for which he was thankful to British government and his visit to Britain would open new avenues of cooperation between the Punjab government and Britain.
British High Commissioner Philip Barton said that hard work and extraordinary abilities of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif were acknowledged in Pakistan as well as other countries.
He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government had diverted resources towards welfare of the masses and credit goes to Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif for proper and transparent utilization of funds on public welfare projects.
He said that Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was serving the people of Punjab with sincerity and hard work and has set new records of public service.
