ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif returned here Tuesday after concluding his two-day visit to China where he represented Pakistan at the 14th Heads of Government Council meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
He was accompanied by Chief Minister of Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal and Special Assistant to the PM on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi and senior government officials.
The Prime Minister delivered his statement at the 14th SCO Heads of Government Council Meeting and also joined the SCO Heads of Government at the welcome reception hosted by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in honour of the heads of government of SCO member states and observer countries.
He also held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in which matters of mutual interest were discussed.
The Prime Minister's visit emphasized association of Pakistan with the nine-member organization comprising China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, India and Mongolia, and its desire to deepen partnership with them.
