Facebook, who is not new in conducting secret experiments such as ‘psychology experiment on unsuspecting users’ has intentionally crashed its android app in order to test the loyalty and patience of its users while dealing with app crashes.
According to a website The Information, Facebook quietly annoyed its users by introducing artificial errors that would crash the android app sometimes for hours. The tests were designed to assess user's loyalty. However, it found users carried on using the app despite the issues.
Tensions between Facebook and Google have risen says the website. Facebook that makes one of the most popular apps on smartphones, including those that run on Google Android system seeks greater level of control over its apps on Android which has resulted in clashes with Google.
It further added that the tests conducted were a part of the Facebook contingency plan known as the ‘doomsday project’ in case of any conflict with Google which might drop the Facebook app from its Google Play store. These measures would allow its apps to operate on Android phones without involving the creator Google.
