ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Wednesday strongly condemned the attack and incident of firing on the bureau office of satellite television channel in Islamabad.
In a statement the minster said that the government believed in freedom of expression and considered the attack as attack on democracy.
He said that the government was making all out efforts for provision of safety and security of the journalists so that they could perform their duties in accordance with the professional ethos.
He added that the government will take further steps to ensure security of the media houses in the federal capital.
While talking to ARY News the information minister said that media was playing its prime responsibility in combating terrorism adding it always endorsed the government efforts against terrorism.
He said, "It was our collective responsibility to eliminate this menace from the country.Such cowardly attacks could never weaken our resolve against terrorism."
He also prayed for early recovery of the injured.
