Samsung, the technology company involved in introducing path breaking technology in mobile and home appliances, is all set to enter the entertainment industry.
The company has announced to open its very own Virtual Reality (VR) studio in New York.
According to CNET, Samsung announced the news at the Sundance film festival i.e. held annually in Park City, Utah, where VR is emerging as a prominent theme. However, the South Korean conglomerate did not spill any more about the new VR production studio.
Samsung, chief marketing officer of USA, Marc Mathieu, said only the studio would be located in an existing Samsung office already inhabited by a marketing team.
According to Digital Trends, the Sundance festival is offering VR projects dealing with various subjects, from the controversial shifting of perspectives in a date rape scenario to a soothing drift through the skies of San Francisco as a bird. Gaming isn’t the only area where VR is anticipated to make a difference, as both new films and experiences are exploring the nascent virtual space.
As per rumors, Apple, the Cupertino based tech giant is also paying a close attention to this emerging technology.
Samsung has enjoyed its share of home produced technology, it created its own operating system, the Linux based ‘Tizen’, and is the force behind Gear VR virtual reality headset.
