WhatsApp, the messaging platform owned by Facebook has launched its highly anticipated app, which allows users to share documents, both on the Android and iOS devices. However, the feature is not available on Windows Phone.
According to Indian Express, the messaging platform that recently crossed the 1 billion user mark just weeks ago has rolled out this much-needed feature, which its competitors i.e. Telegram, WeChat, etc already possessed, allowing file-sharing from within the app.
Now how this app works, according to TechCrunch the feature pops up alongside other sharing options, i.e. photo or video sharing, contact sharing, or location sharing.
The users on Android should just tap the attachment icon then press the new 'Document' icon that emerges. While in iOS, you’ll be able to share documents from iCloud, Google Drive, OneDrive, by tapping the arrow icon in the chat then pick “Share Document” from the menu that appears.
However, in order to receive documents the recipient has to upgrade itself to the latest version of WhatsApp, otherwise document sharing won’t work.
The latest addition of document sharing could provide the boost in business use of WhatsApp’s messenger app, reflecting CEO Jan Koum statement in January that WhatsApp would begin testing more commercial services, including those that would allow consumers to communicate with businesses.
