900 surveillance cameras to be installed in Karachi
KARACHI: At least 900 video surveillance cameras will be installed at 164 locations within next six months in the megapolis.
This was disclosed to the visiting delegation of 95th National Management College at Central Police Office (CPO) on Thursday by IGP Sindh Wajid Ali Khan Durrani.
The delegates were informed that unlike the past, the video cameras will have multiple software technology including live search, facial recognition, virtual tripwires, motion detection and shape base detection facilities.
The IGP further disclosed that the e-policing system will have new initiatives with advanced monitoring system.
"Police have planned to computerise and provide online connectivity within and outside the department including 200 video camera network for Traffic regulation, centralised call centre for police helpline and FM radio station," he added.
