QUETTA: The lawmakers in the Balochistan Assembly unanimously passed a resolution seeking supply of electricity to farmers 15 hours a day.
The Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Ms. Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani presided over the session, here on Friday evening.
Deputy Opposition leader, Eng. Zamarak Piralizai moved the resolution which reads that Balochistan comprises 43 percent land area of the country, of which people depended on agriculture sector for their livelihood.
"Unannounced and prolonged power load shedding is being carried out in the province, causing damages for farmers even a number of peasants have been forced to leave agriculture as profession," it said.
The resolution demanded of the provincial government to approach the federal government to reduce the duration of power load-shedding.
It further demanded that farmers may be supplied electricity for 15 hours on daily basis. Opposition leader, Maulana Abdul Wasey, Provincial Minister, Abdul Raheem Ziaratwal and other supported the resolution. The chair put the resolution to the house which passed it unanimously.
