FAISALABAD: Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Sunday said that the PML-N government had successfully steered the country out of crises and now intelligentsia and conscious segments of society should play their role in promoting tolerance and positivity to further strengthen political, economic and social gains.
He was addressing the launching ceremony of a book written by journalist Asghar Ali Tabassum in University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) here.
The minister said the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is a symbol of tolerance and nobility.
He (PBUH) preached Islam and made it acceptable to that darkest society because of his (PBUH) great character and attitude.
He said each and every Muslim should disseminate the message of tolerance not only through preaching but also by practicing it in its true spirit.
He said Pakistan was created because of hundreds and thousands of sacrifices. "Now once again with efforts of political and military leadership we have overcome new challenges and made a number of achievements."
"With the blessings of Allah Almighty Pakistan is now self-sufficient in agriculture and everyone is getting food according to his own need and taste," he said and added that now the government was fully concentrating on energy crisis which would further gear up pace of progress and prosperity in the country.
"However, to strengthen these achievements, we must change our mindset and promote sentiment of brotherhood and tolerance", he said. The minister said all segments of life must play their role in weeding out illiteracy, extremism and terrorism. "This piece of land can become heaven if we succeed to scratch out extremism and hate from our minds," he added.
He appreciated the book written by Asghar Ali Tabassam and said it was not his biography but it was a true story of Pakistan who started his journey form wilderness to the Island of progress and prosperity.
The function was also addressed by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmed, renowned journalist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Senator Muhammad Hamza, Syed Tabish Alwari and Prof Dr Riaz Majeed.
