KARACHI: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal and Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Khan Hisham Bin Siddique on Tuesday inspected ongoing maritime patrol ship project at HQs Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA).
They were briefed in detail about the construction of 06 new ships for PMSA, a handout said here.
It was informed that construction of first 3 ships at China has already commenced and first 2 ships will be delivered before the end of current year which is 4 months earlier than contract date.
The Federal Minister expressed satisfaction over the project being completed ahead of time. He appreciated PMSA efforts in developing and enhancing its capabilities.
He also lauded the performance of PMSA in policing at Pakistan's Maritime zones and acknowledged that maritime sector is an important component of Pakistan's Vision 2025 as well as CPEC.
The Minister was briefed about operational capabilities and new projects of PMSA which also included construction of PMSA wharf.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahsan Iqbal said that the Government is keen to enhance PMSA capacity as a modern, efficient and potent law enforcement agency in order to safeguard Pakistan Maritime interests all across assigned area of responsibility.
