Anti-smuggling Organisation (ASO) squad, following raids at various godowns and important highways have seized contraband items, including scrap, explosive material and non-custom paid vehicles worth millions of rupees.
A spokesman of ASO said here on Wednesday that on a tip off, additional deputy collector (customs) had formed various raiding parties comprising Deputy Superintendents Saeed Akhtar Joiya and Munawar Khan and Inspectors A.D. Mirza, Sikandar Bajwa, Gulzar Bhatti and Mazhar Buttar.
These parties had raided a go-down near Sherakot area and seized 110 tonnes of scrap, 184 cartons of explosive material and 38 rubber tyres valuing Rs 8.4 million.
Moreover, during checking inspector Mazhar Buttar impounded two non-custom paid Toyota Corrloa cars (LOJ-3452 and FTC-8531) valuing Rs one million while during another raid Inspector Gulzar Bhatti seized ball bearings and a consignment of scrap besides two trawlers.
