The Quaid-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan Memorial Committee has announced that it will celebrate the 2004 as the Year of Shaheed-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan.
In an announcement on Wednesday, declaring the observance of the coming year as the Year of Shaheed-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan, the Secretary General of the Quaid-e-Millat Memorial Committee, Mahfooz-un-Nabi said that the celebrations marking the year of Shaheed-e-Millat will be launched on January 8, 2004 by the placing of a Floral wreath at the Mazar of Liaquat Ali Khan, followed by a programme under the theme, 'Tribute of the new generation to Shaheed-e-Millat.'
Youth will take part in this function and special fruit gifts will be distributed among the special children, the Secretary General added.
The celebrations will include holding of a pictorial exhibition on Shaheed-e-Millat at Islamabad and the provincial capitals, while seminars on the life and achievements of Liaquat Ali Khan will also be organised at home and abroad.
Mahfooz-un-Nabi Khan in a statement hoped that President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali would declare officially 2004 as the year of Shaheed-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan in the same spirit as they had done when the proposal was made by him for declaring 2003 as the year of Madar-e-Millat Fatima Jinnah.
