ISTANBUL: Turkey's lira strengthened to 1.8565 against the dollar by 0830 GMT from 1.8615 earlier, after Central Bank Governor Erdem Basci said on Friday that policy makers will not welcome any further weakness in the lira.
Speaking at a conference in Edirne, Basci said the lira had weakened sufficiently and was not overvalued. The lira has depreciated 17 percent against the dollar so far this year.
