Balochistan Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani has said that Pakistan will provide all possible assistance and co-operation for the rehabilitation of Iranian earthquake victims.
Talking to Governor of Kirman Mohammad Ali Karimi at a control centre set up for quake victims in Bam on Friday, he said Pakistani people consider the losses in Bam as their own loss and are ready to extend all kinds of co-operation to their Iranian brethren at this crucial moment.
"President Musharraf and Prime Minister Jamali has sent me to Bam to express solidarity with Iranian people and to hand over relief items to Iranian authorities," he said
He said a team of engineers and other experts of Pakistan Army comprising 175 members along with heavy machinery and equipment will be reaching Bam within a day or two that would provide assistance in rehabilitation and construction works.
A medical mission of Pakistan Army has already been working in Bam from December 30 last, he said and added that Pakistan Army has established a 100-bed hospitals in Bam where 200 people are being examined and provided treatment per day.
The governor said that the Pakistan government has also asked NGOs to take part in relief activities in Bam and added that Edhi Centre team has already engaged themselves in relief activities in the city.
He assured of all possible assistance to Iran and have asked for its requirements.
The Governor of Kirman on the occasion informed his counterpart about the damages and losses caused by the quake and said that over 50,000 people have been killed in the quake.
He thanked Pakistani government and people for extending their sympathy and assistance to Iran on this Occasion.
Senior Provincial Minister Maulana Abdul Wasey, Provincial Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mir Abdul Rehman Jamali, Pakistan's Ambassador in Iran Iqbal Ahmed Khan, Iranian Consul General in Quetta Hussain Kashmir were also present on the occasion.
