President, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Adeel Rauf; Chairman SCCI Standing Committee on Railway Dry Port Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi and renowned exporter Shahid Munir have termed trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan during 2003 step toward economic stability of the country.
Talking on a Dubai-based private television channel, Adeel Rauf said that US$ 70 million has put the economy of the province on the path of improvement, saying that the construction of dry port at Torkham would not only boost trade with Afghanistan, but also with Central Asia.
He was optimistic regarding further improvement of trade between both states during 2004.
Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi said that the Peshawar Dry Port was made at par with the new situation and rains play havoc with it.
He said that improvement in the dry port would not only benefit Pakistan Railways rather the grievances of the trading community would also be mitigated.
Known exporter of the province, Shahid Munir stressed on Pakistani business community to send better quality goods to Afghanistan, which he said would help promotion of trade between both neighbouring states.
