National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE) will host an International Workshop on "Advanced Techniques in Biotechnology" here from January 5 to 17, 2004, which will be inaugurated by the eminent Biotechnologist Dr Anwar Nasim, Sitara Imtiaz, Chairman National Commission on Biotechnology and Advisor Science to Comstech.
This first ever-international workshop on biotechnology in Muslim World would be participated by the biologists from Bangladesh, Nepal, Sudan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, and Syria.
15 participants have confirmed to participate in the workshop while 16 practitioners of biotechnology from different scientific organisations of Pakistan have been selected from hundreds of nominations.
In this workshop two leading scientists from Japan, one from England, and one from Qatar have been specially engaged to impart latest knowledge to participants said Dr Ahmad Mukhtar Khalid, Director NIBGE on the eve of this workshop.
More than 20 specialised lectures would be delivered in this two week workshop on the subjects of Chloroplast, Viruses, Human Health, Environment, and Industry.
We anticipate that the perceived objectives of this workshop, which include establishing collaboration with scientists of other countries and transfer-advanced techniques of biotechnology, would be achieved successfully, Director NIBGE hoped.
The funds for holding this international workshop have been provided by Comstech-PTCL-centre.
