Maulana Fazlur Rahman Amir Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam (JUI) and top leader of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has emphasised that Kashmir issue must be resolved according to aspirations of Kashmiri people.
"It is the Kashmiris whose life and future will be associated with the solution of Kashmir issue. It remains to be seen what are the real texture", Maulana Fazlur Rahman said when asked to comment on the agreement between Pakistan and India to resume composite dialogue next month on all issues including Kashmir.
"It remains to be seen what will happen to the trust of Kashmiri people in view of the lines they have decided and the path they are going to tread. We believe whatever solution comes forth it should be in conformity with the aspirations of Kashmiri people", MMA leader stressed in an interview with BBC on Wednesday in Islamabad.
He felt that wishes of Pakistan and India and those of the people in the region played role in the resumption of dialogue.
"And you cannot deny the pressure of foreign powers. It should not happen that our wishes are suppressed and the influence of foreign powers become dominant while resolving Kashmir dispute", Maulana Fazlur Rahman stated.
He said that Line of Control (LoC in disputed Kashmir) cannot be recognised as permanent border.
He referred to a press report which attributed remarks to All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) that if bus service can run between Delhi and Lahore, why it cannot run between occupied Srinagar and Muzaffarabad or between occupied Srinagar and Rawalpindi.
If some facilities are provided to the people of Kashmir it does not mean that the issue of LoC was resolved. But if in this situation Kashmiri people themselves demand for some facilities they out to be given that, Maulana Fazlur Rahman stated.
