Bin Qasim division of Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited (PTCL) has started work for construction of 500 lines exchange to provide connectivity to the planned textile city near Port Qasim.
"Plot has been acquired at North West Industrial Zone of Port Qasim and work order has been issued for the exchange," Divisional Engineer Bin Qasim, Engineer Abdul Rahman Shaikh told APP.
He said the division, which covers Thatta district besides outskirts of Karachi, had initiated many other development projects and introduced concessional packages for selling new connections to expand its network.
The DE said that on the directives of General Manager STR-I, Mureed Ali Shah, annual sale target of the division had been doubled from 19,000 connections.
For achieving the target, camps had been set up in various localities where the demand notes were being issued on-the-spot and after payment a connection was being installed within next 24 hours.
Under the special drive, a new connection was being sold for only Rs 575 in Kathore, Shah Yaqeeq and Damba exchanges.
