Seven national and international firms are likely to submit their proposals for conducting Kotri Downstream studies on January 12.
Source told Business Recorder that the committee on the Kotri Downstream study has asked the seven companies who have shown their interest regarding conducting of Kotri Downstream study to submit their proposals to the committee by January 12.
The committee was constituted on the directive of the Parliamentary Committee on water to evolve strategy for inviting tenders and contract awarding of Kotri Downstream studies. Chief Engineering Advisor heads the Committee which comprises representatives of provincial irrigation departments, Ministry of Water and Power, Planning Commission and of Irsa Chairman.
A third study would be on the overall environmental impact across the country for which tender will be invited in February.
A meeting of the Committee on Kotri Downstream study will be held on January 13 to consider the proposals of the seven companies and it will finalise the tender documents, source said.
The companies which have shown interest are Nespak, Halcrow, Associate Consulting Engineering (ACE), Macdonald Engineering Consultant, National Development Consultants, Harza Engineering, and Engineering Consultant.
It is pertinent to mention here earlier government had invited the Expression of Interests (EoI) from the various firms for conducting the two Kotri downstream studies but later the process was stopped due do lack of consensus on the study among the federating units.
The parliamentary committee on water has decided to start the process of inviting tender from the place where it has been stopped.
Sources said that the Committee has also decided that contracts of the two studies on water releases and ecological environment on Kotri downstream would be carried out through two different firms.
