Under the new housing policy, a proposal is under consideration to allot houses to the employees on proprietary rights in order to save huge expenses on account of rent being given to them.
In this regard, Ministry of Housing and Works has sent a proposal that houses should be constructed for the government employees, by taking loans from House Building Finance Corporation (HBFC).
The proposal stated that government is paying Rs 7500 to a government employee of BPS-17, which is of no benefit for government or the employee. "If government would take a appropriate step to get loan from House Building Finance Corporation (HBFC) for the construction of a house for the employee as per his status the monthly instalment will be around Rs 10,000," the proposal added.
According to the proposal, the government would pay Rs 7500 and remaining Rs 2500 could be deducted from the salary of the employee. After payment of loan the employee would be owner of the house. Besides providing the employee his own house it would decrease the burden on national exchequer.
The Ministry of Housing and Works is meeting on Tuesday to discuss this proposal and look over the pros and cons before accepting it for implementation.
