The Punjab government will set up a commemorative complex in the city to highlight different aspects of Pakistan Movement, and create awareness among the masses about the sacrifices offered by their elders for an independent homeland for Muslims of the sub-continent.
The life-long achievements of all great Muslim Leaguers who struggled for independence, and contributed to the Pakistan Movement, will be highlighted in the complex through modern audio-visual systems.
This was stated by Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi while addressing the 'Madr-e-Millat Awards' ceremony on Wednesday at Alhamra Art Centre under the aegis of the Women Wing of Pakistan Muslim League.
He said great nations always accord due respect to their leaders and follow in their footsteps.
He felicitated the Women Wing on their campaign to create awareness among the new generation about the life and teachings of the Madr-e-Millat, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah.
Pevaiz Elahi observed that Madr-e-Millat, who dedicated her life to the welfare of the poor and under-privileged segment of society, is a role model for the entire nation.
He said the government attaches great importance to the education sector, with special emphasis on quality education for women. It is for the first time, he said, that monthly scholarships will be awarded to girl students for punctuality.
The government is already providing free education up to matriculation in the province, he added.
Later, the chief minister distributed awards among the position holding students.
