President General Pervez Musharraf said on Thursday that Pakistan would not allow its soil to be used for any terrorist activities.
He was briefing the participants of the 89th Corps Commanders conference, held here at the General Headquarters and attended by all Corps Commanders and Principal Officers of the GHQ.
"Our efforts to root out extremism and all kinds of terrorism from Pakistan's soil will continue," he said, reiterating the government's stated position that it will not allow the Pakistani soil to be used as sanctuary for carrying out terrorist activities in the neighbouring countries.
Pakistan Army is presently engaged in search-and-destroy operation against foreign terrorists supposed to be based in the area straddling the Pak-Afghan common border.
Similar operation was conducted by the armed forces against terrorists in the Bajur area last year.
During the meeting matters pertaining to operational and training preparations of Pakistan Army also came under discussion, said a press release of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate.
The participants also reviewed the post cease-fire situation along the Line of Control (LoC), it added.
The guns fell silent on the eve of last Eid when Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali ordered cease-fire by the Pakistan forces on the LoC. India responded by following the suit and since then the cease-fire has held.
