Deputy Prime Minister of India Lal Krishnan Advani set to lead unprecedented talks with Kashmiri leaders next week.
He said on Friday that he was certain that negotiations would help to bring peace in the occupied valley.
"(The) outcome will be good. I have no doubt about it," Advani was quoted as saying by Press Trust of India.
Advani will spearhead the talks from next Thursday in New Delhi with leaders from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), the first direct negotiations between the two sides.
But Advani, considered as a hard-liner in Vajpayee's cabinet, cautioned that the Kashmiri leaders would have to be sincere in efforts to end as what he described the bloodshed.
The 15-year old struggle has left 65,000 people dead, most of them were civilians.
Hurriyat leaders have been rejecting talks with India because of assigning lower-ranking officials to deal with them. But with Advani's participation, it is hoped that his leadership can help to steer the conflict toward peace.
However Mujahideen have vowed to keep fighting despite cease-fire between India and Pakistan since November 26, 2003 and resumption of peace talks starting in February.
