President Pervez Musharraf will shift his residence to Islamabad from Rawalpindi to tighten security after two near-miss attempts on his life, a newspaper reported on Friday.
"We expect preparations for the shifting will be completed by...end-January," an official was quoted as telling the paper which, said that he would move to the presidential office, Aiwan-e-Sadr, situated next to Parliament.
The report said that security advisers believe that Musharraf should curtail the number of trips along the 15 km route between his current Rawalpindi residence and his Islamabad office.
The reported move to the official presidential house comes almost 12 months ahead of the deadline for Musharraf to quit his post as Army chief.
