Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali has called upon the exporters and people associated with commerce and industry to redouble their efforts for enhancing exports.
He was talking to an 8-member delegation from Sialkot, Daska and adjoining areas, which called on him at the Prime Minister's House on Friday.
Ali Asjad Malhi MNA lead the delegation comprising Provincial Minister for Industries, Mohammad Ajmal Cheema, MPA Chaudhry Mumtaz Ahmad, Tehsil Nazim Sialkot Mohammad Akmal Cheema,
Tehsil Nazim Daska, Mian Ijaz Cheema and Tehsil Nazim Pasroor, Rana Ijaz Ahmad.
Jamali said efforts were being made to develop small and medium enterprises particularly the cottage industries in the country and those associated with these industries must try to avail of the facilities being provided by the government departments and agencies for their business uplift.
He said small and medium industry of the country has the potential to improve and compete internationally and referred to the export of sports goods and surgical instruments.
The members of the delegation thanked the Prime Minister for sanctioning Rs 60 million for construction of bridge over river Tawi.
They also apprised Jamali of the problems being faced by the area people especially with regard to non-availability of gas and electricity in some of Daska and Sialkot Tehsils.
The delegation lauded the statesmanship and political sagacity of the Prime Minister in making the recent Saarc summit a resounding success.
