Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan has said that preliminary evidence and investigation show that the Christian community or their institutions were not the target of act of terrorism at Fatima Jinnah Road on Thursday afternoon.
However, he said the matter was being examined by every aspect and police teams had been constituted for investigations.
The governor was talking to Bishop Alexander John Malik, who met him along with the secretary of Bible Society of Pakistan at the Governor House here on Friday.
The Advisor for Home Affairs, Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, Chief Secretary, Dr Mutawakkal Kazi, Principal Secretary, Brigadier Akhtar Zamin (Retd), Additional Chief Secretary Homes Provincial Police Officer, City Police Chief and other officials were also present on the occasion.
Governor said the government believed that security of all minorities including Christians as its prime responsibility and steps were being taken in this regard.
He said the government would pay the damage caused to the bookshop of Bible Society and other adjoining institutions.
On the occasion the Inspector General Police informed that sketches of persons involved in the incident had been released on the very day and a reward of Rs one million had also been announced for their arrest.
While appreciating the government's efforts Bishop Alexander John Malik said it would prove a source of encouragement for the whole Christian community.
He also said the whole world was facing the threat of terrorism and by targeting minorities the terrorists wanted to tarnish the image of Pakistan in the world community.
Later the governor, along with the Bishop and other officials visited the scene of blast and the office of Bible Society.
