Federal Minister for Water and Power Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that President Musharraf's address to the joint session of the parliament will allay the misgiving of world, being projected by the western media about Pakistan and Islam.
Furthermore, the priorities and dimensions set by President Musharraf for the pursuit of domestic and foreign policies would enhance the image of the country in the comity of nations and establish the credentials of Pakistan as a progressive, moderate and peace-loving country.
He expressed these views while addressing the Nazims and party leaders from Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda districts here on Sunday.
Sherpao hailed the President's bold stand on Kashmir, international terrorism and religious extremism that had fixed clear parameters for the implementation of national policy, which raised the prestige of the country in the free world.
He said that it was high time to make collective and persistent efforts in the light of the President guideline for the creation of a tolerant and truly democratic society.
While dilating on the theme of self-reliance from the President's address, the minister said that Pakistan had vast resources and if these were properly and judiciously utilised the goal of self-reliance in both agriculture and manufacturing sectors could be easily achieved.
"The desired growth rate in the agriculture and industrial sector will bring about a substantial increase in export and further jack up foreign exchange reserves," he added.
Later, the party leaders reviewed arrangements for the forthcoming death anniversary of Shaheed Hayat Mohammad Sherpao.
Those who spoke on the occasion included District Nazim Nowshera Pervez Khattak, Naib Nazim District Charsadda Mohammad Nawaz Khan, Chairman Public Safety Commission District Charsadda Sajid Khan, PPP-S leaders, Alamgir Khalil, Malik Zarawar Khan, Saadullah Kafoor Dheri and Shamsher Ali.
