A high-level joint delegation of US Chamber of Commerce and US-Pakistan Business Council will visit Lahore on Monday, January 19, to explore the investment avenues in different sectors for strengthening economic co-operation between the two countries.
Chairman and Founder Pak US Business Council, Iftikhar Ali Malik told APP here on Sunday that the Managing Director, South Asia Affairs, US Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Herbert Davis and Esperanza Gomez, newly appointed Executive Director, US Pakistan Business Council will represent their institutions during their visit to Pakistan.
The delegation will meet the President and executive committee members of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on January 20 and highlight in detail the economic policies of US private sector towards their Pakistani counterparts.
LCCI Chief Mian Anjum Nisar will explain to the members of the delegation about the distinctive features of the excellent package of incentives offered to attract foreign investment in Pakistan.
The delegation is also scheduled to call on Governor Punjab and Chief Minister Punjab same day and exchange views on mutual interest and further promotion of bilateral trade between the two countries. It is the follow up visit of President Pervez Musharraf to US last year who had invited US business community to Pakistan for foreign investment in any sector of their choice.
Iftikhar Ali Malik said that it will be the first one on one interaction of private sector of both countries in the provincial metropolis and local business community will benefit from the visit of US delegation.
He said Pak business tycoon will also have separate meeting with delegation to discuss the ways and means to increase the volume of trade between Pakistan and the United States in private sector.
He said that Dr. Herbert Davis had played an important role in the formation of US Pakistan Business Council, in October 2002 while he in the presence of Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz singed the MoU in this regard at Washington in a capacity as President Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
