The Punjab metropolis received rain throughout the day on Wednesday, while other parts of the province, Sindh, Balochistan, Northern Areas and Kashmir also received downpour.
According to an official of the local Meteorological Department, rain commenced in the early morning and was continuing till the filing of this report.
The momentum of rain varied throughout the day and for only a very short period the downpour stopped. Lahore received 6 millimetres of rain.
He said that a trough of low-pressure area caused rain over Punjab and NWFP and this was part of the winter rain that had started in December 2003.
The maximum temperature recorded was 14 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 6 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, other areas in the northern Punjab, NWFP and Kashmir also received rain. Madab received 18 mm, followed by Peshawar 17 mm.
Other cities which received rains are Gahridupatta 16 mm, Saidu Sharif 16 mm, Malamjabba 15 mm, Islamabad (airport) 15 mm, Bahawalpur 9 mm, Balakot 9 mm, Bahawalnagar 9 mm.
For the next 24 hours, the Met Office has predicted more scattered rain in Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions.
